Faculty Fellows
Established in 2004, the Faculty Fellows Program provides recent college graduates an opportunity to experience teaching in an independent school. The faculty fellowship is a full-time commitment for one school year.

Teaching
All fellows work under the direct mentorship of a master teacher. The master teacher is readily available to guide and provide information, advice, feedback, and encouragement. Fellows in middle and high school generally assume responsibility for teaching two classes after a period of observing the master teacher. Fellows placed in the lower school share teaching responsibilities with the master teacher and are given opportunities to independently plan units and deliver instruction.
Extracurriculars
Under the guidance of faculty coaches and sponsors, faculty fellows coach and mentor students in our after school programs in athletics, arts, community service, and enrichment. Fellows also assist in leading retreats and mission trips and may choose to lead grade level Bible studies.
Development
While the master teacher provides daily instructional coaching, fellows attend seminars on teaching and learning as well as meetings with the coordinator for training. These seminars and meetings provide a forum for discussion of pedagogical principles and practical application of best practices in education. Fellows are also active participants in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities planned on campus.
Compensation and Timeline
Faculty Fellows for the 2026-2027 school year have been hired.
Applications for the faculty fellows program for the 2027-2028 school year will be available in early August 2026. Wesleyan alumni are welcome to apply. In addition to a salary of $30,000 paid over 12 months, faculty fellows are provided housing adjacent to campus for the school year, lunch on school days, and the option for coverage under the school’s health insurance program. Contact Donna Dixon if you would like to know more about the program.
I am forever grateful for my time as a Faculty Fellow at Wesleyan. I was exposed to all the facets of life working at an independent Christian school. The platform for personal growth that the Fellows program provided me was incredible. It was truly a year of discernment for finding out what God had in store for me in my professional career.
