WELCOME TO THE
WESLEYAN ARTS ALLIANCE!

The Arts Alliance celebrates and supports Wesleyan's commitment to the arts and shares the belief that the arts are both a tremendous avenue for self-expression and an important part of every child's development. Each year we raise funds through membership receipts and profits from the annual Wesleyan Artist Market and Christmas card sales, that are returned in their entirety to Wesleyan arts programs. Our Executive Boards works closely with the Director of Fine Arts and the administration to identify needs that are in excess of the departmental budget and which the Alliance can help fund. We gather additional insights and information from parent liaisons to each of the main arts programs, who also provide valuable support to the faculty leaders of these programs throughout the year. A great deal of time and energy goes into the planning and execution of the Artist Market, our largest fundraiser, which showcases professional artists of many genres from across the Southeast, as well as student, parents, and faculty artists right here at Wesleyan. In addition to raising funds by collecting 25% of all artist sales for the school, the Market also serves as an anticipated annual event in celebration of the arts that we hope fosters community engagement and appreciation of the gift of artistic expression which God has so abundantly blessed all of our children with. You can read a summary of the Alliance's 2011-12 year here

WAA SPOTLIGHT: IMAC LAB

This summer, the WAA completed the purchase of the computers and equipment necessary to create a “Mac lab” for the photography classroom in the Fine Arts building.  This purchase included twenty-two 21” display iMac computers, 5 digitizing tablets, printing calibration devices and image processors for photography printing, and a full suite of software applications for both photography and video editing.  These items will add enormous capabilities to our photography classes, will be used by student publication groups, among others, and will provide the opportunity for our students to learn on state-of-the-art equipment during their time at Wesleyan.
