Cotillion

The Parents Club sponsors a manners and etiquette class through the National League of Junior Cotillion. It is a year long class offered to all 6th graders. The classes meet monthly after school in the DuBose Dining Hall. According to the NLJC, the purpose of the classes is “To learn to treat others with honor, dignity, and respect for better relationships with family, friends, and associates.”

The students learn everyday manners such as the importance of a first impression, introductions, greeting and shaking hands, correspondence, table manners, and sports etiquette. They learn about formal dining and hosting courtesies, as well as some of the classic and modern dance steps. All of this is taught in a fun, relaxed manner. Cotillion is a wonderful opportunity for all 6th graders to learn social graces that will carry them through dating in High School, making new friends in college, and interacting with future business associates.
