Dear Wesleyan Family,
Tomorrow we will elect a new President. Regardless of your political leanings or who you decide to support with your vote, this election season has been unlike any in recent memory. It is disheartening to observe the behavior of the two primary candidates as well as the negative rhetoric that has been so central in the political discourse of the last six months. While tomorrow will mark the end of the actual election, I am not confident that either candidate will display grace and humility in the face of victory or defeat. In spite of the fact that so much of this is out of our control, we do have to pause in the midst of the run-up to election day and ask ourselves how we will respond to all of this as a Christian community? What messages, direct and indirect, will we communicate to our children?
