| Wesleyan Family,
Happy New Year! While 2012 may be months away, for your children and their teachers, the new school term is the best way that we count time.
You will notice some improvements as you return to campus such as the improved and expanded LS playground, the enlarged Wrenn Clinic for MS/HS, the absence of tabletop computers in Chapman Library, and the new tablet computer help-desk to name a few. Perhaps the most immediately noticeable changes are the asphalt-saving new finish on the school roads and parking lots and especially the new-and-improved-attention-getter speed break at the Machemehl Gates. Speeding over that speed bump/pedestrian crossing is bad news for shock-absorbers and it will undoubtedly serve its purpose of slowing down some folks!
Parent nights begin next week and we hope to see all parents there. On this first Friday the 19th, like last year, we will begin the school year with an all-school chapel in Yancey Gym. This is the second year of a new Wesleyan tradition of bringing together the combined K-12 student bodies and faculties for the year’s first and last chapels to introduce and then summarize the annual school year theme from the Bible. This year’s series is the “I am” sayings of Jesus from John. Parents are invited to attend this chapel at 8:50 AM and then study with us as we move through a year of looking at Jesus through this lens. Parking may be tight, but we will do our best to make it as convenient as possible.
Last year we sent to you some reflections on Wesleyan from Sarah Moye ’05 which were well-received. A recent article appeared in the Cape Cod Times about another of our alumni, James Ramsey ’08, that we thought you would enjoy as well. Click this link to read about James, the son of Craig and, Wesleyan trustee, Mary Ramsey.
God continues to faithfully provide outstanding teachers who fit our Wesleyan model. I know that you look forward with great anticipation your first chance to meet them on Parents’ Night. I hope to see you then and, if possible, at the opening chapel, too.
