Summer Reading 2010
Wesleyan Lower School
To encourage the enjoyment of reading that enriches life and expands the imagination, Wesleyan Lower School requires students to read during the summer.
Reading is an important aspect of Wesleyan School, and the summer months afford a wonderful opportunity to enjoy reading. Stories spark the imagination and serve as a spring board for vocabulary enhancement and the acquisition of knowledge, as well as a vehicle to foster family time and dialog. Reading during the summer should be routine and as natural as eating and sleeping.
Wesleyan Summer reading lists are posted above by grade level. Remember that there are many wonderful books available to you and your student(s). These lists serve as guidelines and should not be seen as the only source for book recommendations. Librarians, teachers, and peers may have valuable suggestions, as well as web pages such as ReadWriteThink.org, CommonSenseMedia.org, scholastic.com, lapl.org [Los Angeles Public Library], or ReadKiddoRead.
Happy reading! I will be checking e-mail several times each week during the summer break if you have concerns.
