High School
Summer Reading Program

Thank you for your support of the summer reading program.  The faculty, administration and staff have worked hard to provide Wesleyan students with books that will increase students’ understanding of the world and their mission to their fellow man.  Reading should make each individual become a more informed and compassionate person.  We hope that as students make their choice of books, they will select books that increase their Christian world view.

Books for summer reading may be purchased at Barnes & Noble at the Forum.  This year books may be purchased online at www.bn.com/bookfairs.  For Wesleyan to receive credit for this sale you must enter the Book Fair Event ID Number: 10438182 on the designated field found on the payment page during checkout.

If you purchase summer reading books during the book fair (April 28 – May 12) either online or in the store, part of the proceeds will be returned to Wesleyan to support the Mission Trips.

If you have questions about summer reading, you may contact
Carolyn Chapman cchapman@wesleyanschool.org for the high school or
Shonda Duke sduke@wesleyanschool.org for middle school questions.

High School Summer Reading

Each high school student must read three books to complete the summer reading requirement.

Honors and AP English classes:
Supplemental books may be assigned.

One of these books is assigned by the English department.  The  second one is a book that every high school student will read this summer.  The students may choose the third book from a list of books sponsored by the high school faculty.

Expectations for the books are as follows:
The English department book will be assessed through a test given in the English class on the first full day that class meets (August 16 or 17).
The high school book will be discussed in groups during the beginning of the school year.  It should be read completely by the first full day of school (August 16).

The faculty-sponsored book will be assessed by group discussion with the sponsor.  The discussion will occur during program time (August 25).
