Announcements for Thursday, February 2, 2012
To the Office:
General Announcements:
· Many students have become lackadaisical in meeting the uniform expectations, therefore a dress code and personal appearance check will take place on Monday. Please be sure you abide by the policies outlined in the Family Handbook on Monday, and every day moving forward.
· Tonight is the night when the stars will come out and the red carpet will be walked. Make plans to attend this evening’s performance of Wesleyan’s Got Talent. The show begins at 6:30pm in Powell Theater. 13 entertaining acts are in line to compete for the “golden ticket”. Also, the theme and date for this year’s Sadie dance will be announced at the end of the show.
Clubs and Activities:
Community Groups and Mission Trips:
· Mission trip fundraiser — Students are invited to participate in the 7th annual Valentine’s Day Cake Bake, February 9th and 10th to help raise money for Wesleyan Missions. Last year we raised $1,371 for missions with only 25 cake entries. This year we are hoping to raise even more money for missions, but we are going to need everyone’s help to reach our goal. Male students and faculty are asked to bake and decorate a cake for a silent auction February 9th during lunch. All money raised will be donated to support the Wesleyan mission trip program. Cake entries should be brought outside Dubose Cafeteria Thursday morning February 9th before school begins at 8:00 a.m. Silent Auction Winners will be posted on the Serve-His League bulletin board (2nd floor of Cleghorn), and all cakes must be paid in full Friday morning, February 10th in order to claim your cake. Please see Mrs. Pack if you have any questions.
Service News:
· Atlanta Mission Spare Change Collection: Remember to bring in spare change to your female grade chair’s office to help with the graduation meal at Atlanta Mission on Thursday, Feb. 2nd. Once we reach our goal of $500, whichever grade has raised the most money will be rewarded with a jeans day! J As of Friday afternoon we had raised $233 of our $500 goal with the Juniors in 1st place with $163, Seniors in 2nd place with $48, Freshman in 3rd place with $13 and Sophomores in 4th place with $9.
· FOOD DONATIONS & STUDENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: This Thursday, Feb. 2nd, the Wesleyan Jr. Board of Directors of Atlanta Mission and Serve-His League will be hosting a graduation reception for the men who have completed a year-long life restoration program at the Atlanta Mission. We need food donations to complete the meal (i.e. veggie trays, cheese & cracker trays, and a variety of chips & dip). If you would be willing to help with food, please sign-up on the Serve-His League bulletin board. Also, we are in need of about 12 student volunteers to come help serve. If you are not participating in Wesleyan’s Got Talent, please sign up on the Serve-His League bulletin board (2nd floor of Cleghorn) and return your signed permission slip to Mrs. Pack as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your support.
· Wesleyan's American Red Cross Blood Drive: The blood drive will be held Thursday, February 16th in McKeever from 8:00am-1:00pm. We really need student, faculty, & parent participation from all grade levels to make our goal. Please consider giving! To make an appointment to donate, please go to the Wesleyan School website home page, http://www.wesleyanschool.org/Pages/welcome.aspx, and click on “Blood Drive” at the bottom. If you have traveled to Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, or Peru or anywhere else outside the country on vacation, please call the American Red Cross at 866-236-3276 to verify if you are eligible to donate this year. Sixteen year old students require a signed parental consent form which can be picked up from Becky Cardwell or Wendi McHugh in the middle/high school clinic.
