 Frequently Asked Questions…and Answers

Q. Do I need to install any anti-virus software on tablet?

A. Please do not. We have already installed Virus Protection software on each tablet.

Q. What type of wireless router is needed to work with the tablets at home?

A. Any routers that are available on the store shelves will do just fine. If you are running into problems connecting to your router, it could be because the router is too old. Upgrading to a newer router should help fix the problem.

Q. My child can access and use my neighbor's wireless network. What should I do?

A. Discuss this with your child. If it continues to be a problem and your neighbor is offering an unencrypted wireless connection, discuss the risks with your neighbor. If your neighbor enables wireless security and does not provide the passwords or key(s) to your child, then your child won't be able to connect. Make sure you do not cause the same problem by having your own wireless router accessible to the world. Use your router configuration menu to set up a password. For help see the help site and documentation for your own wireless router.

Q. If my child's tablet has been loaded with too much of the wrong stuff (music, games, movies, spyware, chat software etc), what can I do?

A. You can ask the Help Desk to re-image the tablet. This would reset the contents of the computer to Day 1. If doing so, the student should first backup any critical data.

Q. How can we back up documents and other material on the tablet?

A. Students can backup school related information to the school network. USB sticks are also a very affordable way to backup student data.

Q. What is the best way to clean the tablet screen?

A. Please use the blue cleaning cloth that was provided with the tablet.
