The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team captured the Area Title on Thursday evening with a 19-5 win over North Oconee! With the win, the Wolves clinched a #1 seed in the GHSA playoffs and earned a 1st round bye. The Lady Wolves will host a 2nd round playoff game next Friday or Saturday. Time and date TBA. The Varsity Boys and Girls soccer teams both advanced to the second round of the GHSA playoffs earlier this week. The Lady Wolves defeated Lakeview Fort-Oglethorpe 10-0 on Tuesday evening, and the Boys took down Ridgeland 7-0 on Wednesday evening.
The Lady Wolves move on to play Hebron at home next Tuesday, April 23rd. Game time TBA. The Boys advance to play Oconee County at home on Wednesday, April 24th (time TBA), in a rematch of last year's Final Four game. Come out to Henderson Stadium to cheer on both teams!
The JV Boys Golf Team continues their undefeated streak on Monday afternoon, defeating Westminster by a score of 153 to 183. Will Wazevich took home medalist honors with a 1 under par 36! Jack Bennison also had a strong afternoon shooting a 38.
The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team secured two wins on Thursday and Friday last week to move to 14-1 on the season. On Thursday night, the Wolves took down Seckinger 21-3 on a rainy evening. The JV Boys Golf team continued their strong play on Tuesday, defeating Woodward 168 to 194 at Wolf Creek Golf Club. The low man for the Wolves was Brendan Wright (40) who was followed closely by Jack Bennison (41) and Will Wazevich (42).
On Wednesday afternoon, the Wolves took down Fellowship 111 to 129 at the River Pines Par 3 Course. With the wins, the team moved to 7-0 on the season!
The Varsity Boys Golf team competed in two matches earlier this week. On Monday afternoon, the Wolves finished in 8th out of 15 teams at the eighteen hole Lambert Longhorn Invitational. Andy Scott led the team with a 75 followed by Brendan Wright's 78. The team score was 318.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Wolves defeated Fellowship 149 to 156 at Horseshoe Bend. Ben Brown was the low medalist on the day with a 2-under 34. Andy Scott shot an even par 36, and Jack Brewster and Judd Stewart came in with a 39 and 40, respectively.
The Varsity Boys Soccer team captured the Region 7-AAA title on Tuesday night with a 4-0 win over Gilmer County. Scoring for the Wolves were Kerrighan Freeman, Garrison Thelen, Kyle Edwards, and Hudson Reynolds. Harrison James and Rhett Smith each had two assists! Alex Allgaier earned his sixth clean sheet of the season and helped seal an amazing evening of great soccer! By clinching the region title, the Wolves will earn the #1 seed in the playoffs and will host the first round of playoffs at home next week.
After being tied 11-11 at the intermission, the Varsity Girls Lacrosse team played a dominating second half and defeated Pace 23-17. The midfield did an amazing job controlling the draw circle. Avery Tucker led with 9 draw controls. Eva Garabadian had her best game of the year leading in points with 10 goals and 4 assists. The other point leaders were Savannah Higgins (6 G, 3 A), Kellan Terwilliger (3G, 1A), and Avery Tucker (2G, 4A). Britain Bridgers did a great job on attack moving the ball during transition. On defense, Maggie Soukup caused 2 turnovers for Wesleyan possession.
The Varsity Boys and Girls Tennis teams celebrated Senior Night by both defeating Lovett on Thursday evening. The Girls swept Lovett 5-0 and the Boys won 3-2! The Girls remain undefeated on the season and the Boys improved their record to 12-3. Both teams will be back at home on Tuesday against Pace. Lauren Van Wie, Class of 2023, was recently selected as one of the team captains for the University of Pennsylvania Volleyball Team. Lauren will be entering her 2nd season with the Quakers in the fall. Congratulations to Lauren on this tremendous accomplishment!

Congratulations to Anne Marie Armstrong (Class of '09) for being named to the 2024 Induction Class for the Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame! Wesleyan Alum Andy Archer '16 recently signed with the Savannah Bananas as a pitcher. The Bananas franchise has made national sporting news as it plays a different brand of baseball called "Banana Ball". The Savannah Bananas will make a national tour this year, playing games in many different cities across the country. They will play at Coolray Field in Buford on March 22nd-24th. Meredith Mangum (Class of 2020) recently earned the recognition as Defensive Player of the Week by the Centennial Conference. Mangum is a Senior Libero at Franklin and Marshall College. Junior Quarterback Ryan Rose (Class of 2021) led the University of Rochester to a big 29-27 victory over the University of New England in Double Overtime this past weekend. Ryan tossed three touchdown passes in the game and threw the game winning two-point conversion in the second overtime. Ryan is a two-year starter at QB for the Yellow Jackets! Congratulation to Chad Hall ('04) on his induction into the Air Force Academy Athletics Hall of Fame! Chad was a 3-sport athlete at Wesleyan (football, basketball, baseball) and was inducted into Wesleyan's Circle of Honor in 2011.
